
Community Frameworks plans to use the funds and volunteer labor to build at least 290 housing units in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana.
It will make the HUD funds available to 26 affiliates to buy land and build or make necessary infrastructure improvements that support new construction and rehabilitation. Completed properties will be sold to low-income homebuyers who contribute a significant amount of sweat equity toward the construction of the unit.
The local grant was part of $26.5 million awarded to four organizations across the country to develop 1,500 self-help housing units.
